Zac Brown Designs Killer Truck For Charity

The truck will be auctioned for the singer's Camp Southern Ground in Fayetteville.

ATLANTA, GA — Grammy-award winner Zac Brown has gotten into the truck-designing business — for a good cause.

A tricked-out Ram 2500 Commando designed by Brown, leader of Atlanta-based country act The Zac Brown Band, will be auctioned off to benefit Camp Southern Ground, a camp for kids on the autism spectrum in Fayetteville.

"I think anyone who truly appreciates something that is totally unique is going to like this a lot," said Brown, who owns Zac Brown Customs, his own in-house design team.

The truck, donated by auto dealer and NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick, is definitely designed with the outdoorsman in mind.

The interior of the truck is laid out with Mississippi Hornback Alligator skin on the seats, center console and steering wheel.

The floor mats and sun visor liners are made with Brazilian Bovine hair-on-hide. And the vehicle comes outfitted with a set of knives from Brown's metal works shop, Southern Grind.

The exterior is fully kitted out with off-road accessories, a hand-painted Kryptek Camo rear truck bed and a hidden tailgate step.

The custom front grill is composed of 33 knives also made by Southern Grind.

"If someone wants a rugged, one-of-a-kind piece, this is an incredible opportunity," said Hendrick, who has now donated three trucks to benefit Camp Southern Ground. "You won't ever find a truck like this again."

Located about a half-hour south of Atlanta, Camp Southern Ground is a 400-acre complex focusing on children with autism spectrum disorders such as autism and Asperger's Syndrome, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia and on children with family members serving in the military.

Brown's truck will be auctioned off on October 15 by Barrett-Jackson.
