Alexander School Bus Fight Leads To Arrest By Sheriff's Office

A 15-year-old Alexander High School student was arrested after the Douglas Sheriff's Office investigated a fight Tuesday on a school bus.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A 15-year-old Alexander High School student was arrested after the Douglas County Sheriff's Office investigated a fight and reported threat Tuesday afternoon by one student against others on the school bus, according to the sheriff's office.

Although it was discovered that no threat was made, the student was arrested for fighting. The sheriff's office has not yet released the charges against the student.

"The Sheriff’s Office learned that there was never a threat against any student in the Douglas County School System and it was nothing more than students sensationalizing a dispute between two students," according to a post on the sheriff's Facebook page.

"The Sheriff’s Office would like to take this opportunity to assure the community that we take school safety very seriously," continues the post. "Deputies that are assigned to the schools as school resource officers are trained on helping students with mental health issues they may face, on teen social media concerns, and train several times a year on responding to an active shooting event. The SROs often train for active shooter response in the various schools while the students are on break in order to make all the SROs familiar with the various schools in the county they may respond to. Members of the sheriff’s office also work closely with the school system to address any concerns that arise on a case by case basis."
