A Cobb County woman remains in jail after her child was found alone in filthy conditions at her apartment in Marietta, Patch has learned. The child, an 11-year-old girl, came to the attention of authorities when she knocked on the door of a neighbor and begged for food. The incident happened July 15 about 7 p.m., according to news reports.

Man Accused Of Killing Wife Turns Himself In

A 51-year-old man accused of shooting and killing his wife late Thursday has turned himself in to police. Walter J. Lowe arrived at the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department at about 3:40 p.m. Saturday and was booked without incident, according to Gwinnett County Police.

Small Plane Lands On Highway In Gwinnett

Traffic on Ga. 316 in Gwinnett County was backed up Monday afternoon after a small airplane used the highway to land. The plane landed safely Monday afternoon on the highway near Harbins Road, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department. It had been pulled off into the median awaiting the arrival of Federal Aviation Administration investigators.
