Home Foreclosures - They Hurt Everyone!

oreDouglas County's home forecloses are increasing again. Per RealtyTrac,
Douglas County's home foreclosures increased 13% from January, 2013 -
January, 2014, while most Atlanta metro counties dropped by 50%. Per
HUD, Douglas County is plagued by an over abundance of subprime loans and as these loans default our foreclosure rates will be very high for the next 10 years. Also, per RealtyTrac, Douglas County has been ranked #5 or higher in home foreclosures since 2007, had 1542 foreclosure filings in 2013, has 858 pending foreclosures currently, and the average home has lost 40% of its Value and Equity, because of the high rate and continuing flow of foreclosures.

Our local governments have cut services, increased taxes a lot, ie. the 30% last July, increased fees for services, laid-off a lot of employees including a lot of our teachers which affects the quality of education of our children.
These actions hurt everyone and affect all of our citizens.

These actions by our local governments were necessary, because of the loss
of millions of dollars in property tax collections due to the loss in value caused by our large number of foreclosures.

This loss in Home Values and Home Owner Equity has resulted in lower
spending by our homeowners in our local economy for items they normally would buy, ie. new appliances and furniture, home improvements and
renovations, and a host of other items. That has required small business to charge more and lay-off employees. That too causes less tax collections and puts more pressure on our local governments to cut service further and increase our taxes again.

National economists have long stated that $1 Dollar Spent In The Local
Economy Will Be Respent Up To 7 Times!

Our Home Values and Owner's Equity will not recover nor will our local government's finances and our local economy until the high rate of foreclosures are eliminated.

There is a proven solution that can do that which will be presented and discussed at Douglas County's Town Hall Meeting, Saturday, April 26th, from 10AM-12NOON, at the Douglas County Library located at 6810 Selman Dr.
Douglasville, Ga. 30134 . This meeting has been organized by a local non-profit group for the benefit of our citizens. The Meeting is FREE, Open to the Public, and Nothing Will Be Sold. Please plan to attend and invite all those you know. RSVP's are required due to Limited Seating. Please RSVP to
