Old Food Debris, Dirty Ice Machine: Douglas County McDonald's Fails Inspection
The fast food restaurant scored a 67/U on an inspection conducted Wednesday.

LITHIA SPRINGS, GA — A McDonald's restaurant in Douglas County failed its health inspection on Wednesday, with inspectors citing old food debris and a dirty ice machine, among other problems.
The McDonald's, at 843 Thornton Rd. in Lithia Springs, scored a failing 67/U on the inspection.
According to the report, inspectors found old food debris in several food preparation areas, including on counters and on the sides of equipment. Dirty "black material" was found on the inside of an ice machine and several employees did not have their hair restrained, as is required.

An employee was found to have left the drive-through window open for a long time, potentially letting in flies and other insects. A cook was not wearing gloves, the cold water handle on a sink was broken and the restaurant didn't have its health permit on display.
The score was a steep drop from the restaurant's last inspection, in May, when it earned a 97/A.
