Tonight's High School Football Preview
Douglas County and Alexander are on the road, while Chapel Hill plays at home.
(0-1) at Warner Robins (0-1) – Douglas County travels to Warner Robins, a once-great power that has recently fallen on hard times. The Demons won a state title as recently as 2004, but last year’s 2-8 mark was the school’s worst since 1966 and its second losing season in three years after posting 39 straight winning seasons. Douglas County lost to Hiram, 21-14, in week one, but they beat Warner Robins 14-0 in this matchup a season ago.
(0-1) at North Paulding (0-1) – Alexander stumbled out of the gates with a 45-13 loss to Northgate a week ago, while North Paulding lost a shootout to Paulding County 41-37. North Paulding won this game 51-3 last season, so Alexander needs to find its defensive footing if its going to make a run at the upset.
Central Gwinnett (1-0) at (0-1) – Central squeaked by Chapel Hill 34-31 in last year’s meeting, the first ever between these two teams. The Black Knights trounced Mountain View in week one and are looking to improve on last year’s 4-6 record. Chapel Hill lost its first four games last season before winning four straight and launching itself into contention in Region 5-AAAA South, so while an up set here would be a boost, a loss doesn’t necessarily spell doom for the Panthers’ season.
