• Hartwell Elementary Teachers Receive Hart EMC Bright Ideas Grants (921wlhr.com) — Hartwell Elementary families will see new hands-on learning tools in music and kindergarten, thanks to Bright Ideas grants awarded to teachers Devon Kitchens and Hannah Jones by Hart EMC. Kitchens will add movement-based gear to her music classes, while Jones' grant funds a classroom incubator so Hartwell kindergarteners can watch chicks and insects develop up close over future school years.

• Stun gun needed to subdue man barricaded in bathroom (newsbreak.com) — A Hartwell man was among two suspects arrested after deputies say they caught them concealing toys, electronics, and other items at a Walmart before taking them to self-checkout. The same sheriff's report details several other recent incidents, from a bathroom standoff requiring a stun gun to app-based shoplifting attempts and a DUI drug arrest in the region.
