Man Arrested in Albany on Cobb County Child Molestation Charges

The man is also a former Albany youth minister. He is being extradited to Cobb County to face the charges.

ALBANY, GA -- A man has been arrested in Lee County on child molestation charges that allegedly occurred in Marietta earlier this month.

Alexander Edwards, 25, is being extradited to Cobb to face the charges.

Edwards, a former Albany youth minister who was fired back in 2013, is accused of molesting an 11-year-old boy in Marietta, according to the Albany Herald.

Police say Edwards was arrested three years ago on obscenity charges but was released on bond. Prior to his arrest, he served as youth minister at Providence Church in Albany and as a Lee County school system substitute teacher.

Edwards is currently being held on a $25,000 bond.
