Driver Charged in Woodstock Accident

The driver of a Honda Accord veered off the roadway, hit a sign, traveled into a ditch, struck a utility pole and overturned on Highway 92.

The woman behind the wheel of a vehicle involved in a Thursday afternoon crash along Highway 92 in Woodstock is facing charges in connection to the accident.

Spokesperson Franka Young with the Georgia State Patrol said the agency has charged Lisa M. Brawner, 50, of Augusta with failure to maintain lane and driving while declared a habitual violator in the accident, which occurred at 2:30 p.m. April 9 at West Wiley Bridge Road.

Brawner was traveling westbound in the right lane along the state route when the 1999 Honda Accord she was driving “traveled off the north edge of the roadway, struck a sign post with its right outside mirror and traveled into a ditch,” Young said.

The car then hit a utility pole and overturned, Young continued.

Cherokee fire spokesperson Tim Cavender said the victim suffered a compound open fracture to her right ankle and complained of knee pain. Brawner was extricated from the vehicle and transported by helicopter to Atlanta Medical Center.

All lanes of Highway 92 were reopened around 4 p.m. Thursday.
