Armed Robbery At Shell; Road Rage At Dunkin' Donuts: Blotter

A male used a handgun to rob a Shell gas station; wrench used to threaten person at doughnut drive-through: Arlington Heights Blotter.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The following information comes from the Arlington Heights Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Every person arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

  • Jacek P. Kowalkowski, 42, of the 1300 block of N Wilke Road, Arlington Heights, is accused of disorderly conduct, and was arrested at 10:30 a.m. July 31 in the 200 block of E Sigwat Street. He was bonded out and given a court date of Aug. 25.
  • Wendy Smith, 69, of the 2600 block of N Brighton Place, Arlington Heights, is accused of disorderly conduct, and was arrested at 11 a.m. Aug. 1 in the 1000 block of E Suffield Drive. She was given a court date of Sept. 2.
  • James R. Phillips, 54, of the 300 block of W Miner Street, Arlington Heights, is accused of two counts of disorderly conduct, and was arrested at 12:47 a.m. Aug. 3. He was released on bond and given a court date of Aug. 18.

BATTERY

  • Lisa S. Kim, 31, of the 3500 block of Western Avenue, Highland Park, is accused of battery, and was arrested at 12:06 p.m. July 31 in the 0-100 block of W Algonquin Road. She was bonded out and given a court date of Aug. 25.
  • Michelle L. Banks, 51, of the 7000 block of W Algonquin Road, Des Plaines, is accused of battery, and was arrested at 12:06 p.m. July 31 in the 0-100 block of W Algonquin Road. She was bonded out and given a court date of Aug. 25.

Craig A. Nelson Jr., 35, of the 800 block of Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, is accused of driving under the influence of drugs, operating an uninsured vehicle, and was arrested at 5:39 p.m. Aug. 1 at Central Road and Burton Place. He was released on bond and given a court date of Sept. 9.

DRIVING WITH SUSPENDED/REVOKED LICENSE

James A. Lindquist, 47, of the 100 block of Stonemarsh Lane, Barrington, is accused of driving with a suspended/revoked license, and was arrested at 5:27 p.m. Aug. 1 in the 0-100 block of W Algonquin Road. He was released on bond and given a court date of Aug. 24.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL

James B. Bogucki, 52, of the 1900 block of E Elmwood Circle, Arlington Heights, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, an expired license for six months or less, and was arrested at 10:29 p.m. Aug. 2 in the 600 block of E Rand Road. He was bonded out and given a court date of Aug. 25.

INCIDENTS

ARMED ROBBERY

Carrying a handgun, a male took money from the cash register under threat of force at 6:27 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Shell Gas Station, 301 E Central Road. The male is described as white, between 20-25 years of age, thin build, wearing a blue surgical facemask, a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over clear plastic gloves and black pants. The male was last seen running eastbound from the scene. Approximately $400 was taken from the register.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

  • Two males unlawfully climbed on the top of the roof of the St. Peter Lutheran Church at 3:48 a.m. Aug. 5 at 111 W Olive St. It does not appear anything was damaged on the roof. The males were both wearing sweatshirts. They were last seen leaving northbound from the area on bicycles.
  • An unknown person damaged a Black Lives Matter banner displayed in front of the Lutheran of the Cross church between 5 p.m. July 30 and 1:51 p.m. July 31 at 2025 S Goebbert Road. Spray paint was used to deface the banner. The same banner was later cut with an unknown sharp object in a separate act of vandalism. Read more here.
  • Someone damaged a patch of fake grass on a resident's deck by using a cigarette to burn holes at 5:20 p.m. Aug. 4 at The Residences Apartments in the 2200 block of S Goebbert Road. The cost to repair the damage is unknown.

ROAD RAGE INCIDENT

An unknown male attempted to strike another person with a wrench following a road rage incident between 1-2 p.m. Aug. 2 at the drive-through lane at Dunkin' Donuts, 2106 S Arlington Heights Road. The male was last seen leaving the area in silver Lexus sedan with damage to the front bumper and an unknown Illinois license plate. No medical attention was needed.

RETAIL THEFT

  • A male was reported to conceal merchandise on his person before leaving the store without paying between 2:45-2:55 p.m. Aug. 3 at Target, 1700 E Rand Road. The male is described as white, between the ages of 30-40, wearing a face mask, a black shirt, black shorts, and black shoes. The male was last seen leaving the area in an older model Ford Escape. The total retail value of the stolen merchandise is approximately $1,000. The male is also accused of retail theft in a neighboring community.
  • Two males left Lowe's at 11:47 a.m. July 31 with concealed merchandise they didn't pay for at 990 W Algonquin Road. The males were last seen leaving the area in an older model silver 4-door passenger car with an Illinois license plate. The total retail value of the stolen merchandise is approximately $672.

THEFT

  • Someone took a package belonging to a resident at noon Aug. 1 from the communal mail area at the apartment complex in the 300 block of N Kaspar Avenue. The value of the package’s contents is approximately $13.
  • An unknown person entered an employee's unlocked vehicle while they were at work between 7:58 a.m.-3:23 p.m. Aug. 6 at Arlington Heights Medical Center. The employee’s property was strewn about the vehicle. Taken from the vehicle was sporting equipment, electronics, and personal identification documents. The total value of the stolen property is approximately $900.
  • An unknown person entered an employee's vehicle when it was parked unattended while the employee worked between 12:20-2:54 p.m. Aug. 3 at Rolling Green Country Club, 2525 E Rand Road. The front passenger side window had been smashed by an unknown blunt object and entry was made into the vehicle. Taken from the vehicle was the employee's purse containing various credit and identification cards, jewelry, and US currency. The total value of the stolen property is approximately $950.
  • A resident in the 1400 block of E Fleming Drive reported their unlocked vehicle was entered during the overnight hours of Aug. 2 while parked in the driveway. Taken from the vehicle was the resident's purse containing various credit and identification cards, social security numbers, and currency. The total value of the stolen property is approximately $60.
  • A resident in the 1400 block of E Fleming Drive called police to report their unlocked vehicle was entered while parked in the driveway overnight Aug. 2 in the driveway. The resident's property was strewn about the vehicle. It does not appear anything was taken from the vehicle.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO A VEHICLE

  • Someone damaged the roof and top of the rear driver’s side door of a resident’s vehicle while it was parked overnight July 30 in the 300 block of E Council. The damage was caused by a vodka bottle which caused the bottle to shatter over the vehicle and driveway. The cost to repair the damage is under investigation at this time.
  • An unknown person removed the custom exhaust pipe from the rear of a person's vehicle while it was parked overnight July 24 in the parking lot of Fitness 19, 1601 W Campbell St.
