Garage Sale Burglary; Cars Damaged Around Village: Blotter

Six people are accused of a variety of crimes at a home following a garage sale; cars were damaged everywhere: Arlington Heights Blotter.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The following information comes from the Arlington Heights Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Every person arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

DOMESTIC BATTERY

  • Darryl Jones, 24, of Chicago, is accused of domestic battery, and was arrested at 9:29 a.m. July 25 in Arlington Heights. He was given a court date of Aug. 11.
  • Robert W. Phillips, 84, of Arlington Heights, is accused of domestic battery with bodily harm, and was arrested at 8:12 p.m. July 26 in Arlington Heights. He was scheduled to appear in court on July 27.
  • Jacquana 25, of Chicago, is accused of domestic battery, and was arrested at 8:12 p.m. July 30 in Arlington Heights. She was bonded out and given a court date of Sept. 9.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL

Sam Marchiafava, 23, of the 400 block of W Foxdale Lane, Arlington Heights, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, and was arrested at 11 a.m. July 25 in the 1100 block of N Arlington Heights Road. He was released on bond and given a court date of Aug. 24.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

Jaydon L. Battaglia, 19, of the 100 block of Harrison Lane, Hoffman Estates, is accused of disorderly conduct, and was arrested at 5:31 p.m. July 26 in the 1600 block of W Algonquin Road. He was released on bond and given a court date of Sept. 2.

POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA

Eric J. Elwell, 26, of the 1300 block of E Waverly Place, is accused of possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence of drugs, operating an uninsured vehicle, and was arrested at 7 p.m. July 26 at Arlington Heights Road and Oakton Street. He was released on bond and given a court date of Aug. 25.

DRIVING WITH NO DRIVER'S LICENSE/PERMIT

Miktese Mallet, 20, of the 1300 block of S Spalding Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving with no driver's license/permit, and was arrested at 12:03 a.m. July 28 in the 0-100 block of Arlington Heights and Algonquin roads. He was released on bond and given a court date of Aug. 24.

DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED/REVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSE

  • Sierra L. Dimmitt, 23, of the 1500 block of E Silver Strand Circle, Palatine, is accused of driving on a suspended/revoked driver's license, operating an uninsured vehicle, and was arrested at 8:24 p.m. July 28 at N Route 53 and East Dundee Road. She was released on bond and given a court date of Aug. 18.
  • Fernando Lopez Espindola, 43, of the 5700 block of N Kimball Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving on a suspended/revoked driver's license, operating an uninsured vehicle, and was arrested at 9:18 p.m. July 30 on N Arlington Heights Road. He was released on bond and given a court date of Sept. 8.

INCIDENTS

RETAIL THEFT

Between 3:56-4:01 p.m. July 23 an unknown white male is accused of concealing merchandise for sale on his person before the leaving the store without paying at Walgreens, 1000 block of E Northwest Highway. The male is further described as approximately 6 foot, 25-30 years old, medium build and wearing a white surgical face mask, jogging shorts and a white t-shirt. The total retail value of the stolen merchandise is approximately $808.

THEFT

  • An unknown person took a bicycle between 6:45 a.m.-11:15 p.m. July 24 after it was left locked with a cable style lock to the communal bike rack at the downtown train station, 45 W Northwest Highway. Upon returning to the train depot, the bike owner observed both the lock and bicycle were missing. The bicycle is described as a dark blue, men’s mountain bike with front and back lighting and a water bottle holder on the frame. The estimated value of the bicycle is approximately $200.
  • A resident in the 900 block of W Rand Road reported that during the overnight hours of July 28 someone took a package belonging to the victim from the communal mail area at the apartment complex. The value of the package's contents is approximately $380.

BURGLARY

Six unknown people entered a home between 1-6:45 p.m. July 25 in the 1000 block of W Brittany with the resident's permission, following a garage sale at the residence to move a piece of furniture they had purchased. The first person is described as a female, Hispanic, approximately 5 foot, 3 inches, and 140 pounds with dark-colored hair. The second person is described as a female, Hispanic, approximately 5-3, and 140 pounds with long, curly, dark hair. The third person is described as a teenaged female, Hispanic, with long, curly, dark hair. The fourth person is described as a male, Hispanic, slightly balding with a missing front tooth. The fifth offender is described as a male, Hispanic, approximately 5-8 and around 55 years old. The sixth offender is described as a male, Hispanic, approximately 5-5 and approximately 180 pounds. While inside the residence and unsupervised, the people took a duffle bag containing cash proceeds from the earlier garage sale. The duffle bag contained approximately $3,400. The group was last seen leaving southbound from the area in a red 2003 Oldsmobile with an Illinois License plate and a second unidentified vehicle.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

  • A resident in the 4100 block of N Bloomington Avenue reported that between 12:15 a.m.-11:30 p.m. July 24 an unknown white male damaged the hood, passenger side door, and front headlight of the resident’s vehicle while the vehicle was parked in the apartment complex parking lot. The damage to the vehicle was in the form of scratches caused by an unknown sharp object. The cost to repair the damage is under investigation at this time. The male had been observed in a previous incident involving criminal damage to a vehicle in the same area, and was observed via video doorbell.
  • A resident in the 500 block of W Tanglewood called police to report that during the overnight hours of July 24 someone damaged the rear driver’s side panel window of the resident's vehicle while the vehicle was parked overnight in the roadway. The damage was incurred by an unknown blunt object, causing the window to shatter. The cost to repair the damage is under investigation at this time.
  • A resident in the 0-100 block of S Highland Avenue reported that during the overnight hours of July 24 someone damaged both driver's side tires of the resident's vehicle while the vehicle was parked overnight in the parking garage. The damage was incurred by an unknown sharp object, causing the tires to deflate. The cost to repair the damage is approximately $400
  • A resident in the 700 block of Hapfield Drive called police to report that during the overnight hours of July 25 someone damaged the rear driver's side tire of the resident's vehicle while the vehicle was parked overnight in the driveway. The damage caused a dent in the sidewall of the tire. The cost to repair the damage is under investigation at this time.
  • A resident in the 3000 block of N Dryden reported at 8 a.m. July 6 someone damaged the grass in the front yard of the victim’s residence. The damage was incurred by an unknown chemical or burning agent, causing the grass to burn. The cost to repair the damage is under investigation at this time.
  • A resident in the 900 block of E Golf Road called police to report during the overnight hours of July 27 someone damaged the bumper and front driver's side fender of the resident's vehicle while the vehicle was parked in the apartment complex parking lot. The damage to the vehicle was in the form of dents caused by an unknown blunt object. The cost to repair the damage is under investigation at this time.
