Two Charged in Custer Avenue Shooting Incident
Evanston residents face felony charge after gun shot hit parked car Wednesday.

A pair of Evanston men have been charged in connection with a Wednesday incident in which gun shots struck an unoccupied vehicle parked in the 300 block of Custer Avenue.
Police on Thursday confirmed a felony charge of unlawful use of a weapon by felon for Sean L. Raymond, 22, 605 Hull Terrace and a felony charge of unlawful discharge of a firearm and misdemeanor count of criminal damage to property for Octavius Miles, 23, 116 Clyde.
According to police, several 911 calls were made at approximately 1:33 p.m. reporting the shots fired incident. Soon after, a vehicle that matched witness descriptions was spotted in the south alley of the 600 block of Oakton Street, but two passengers - later identified as Raymond and Miles - exited the vehicle and fled.

Raymond was found hiding in the rear stairwell of an apartment building in the 400 block of Callan Avenue, not far from where a loaded .22 caliber North American Arms semi-automatic handgun was found. He was on parole at the time of the incident, so the Illinois Department of Corrections has also issued a parole violation warrant.

About a half hour later, police located Miles hiding in an apartment in the 600 block of Hull Terrace, where a loaded Bryco 9mm semi-automatic handgun was recovered.
