Montgomery Drivers Involved in Crash that Injured State Trooper
Poolesville driver reportedly struck a stopped vehicle on I-95 driven by Silver Spring man; impact shoved state trooper over a guardrail.

A crash that injured three people, including a Maryland state trooper hit by a car, apparently was caused by a civilian employee for the Maryland State Police from Montgomery County who collided with a third vehicle driven by a Silver Spring man.
Maryland State Police are continuing to investigate the crash that happened Wednesday along Interstate 95 in Howard County.
The trooper is identified as Trooper First Class Wing Tong, assigned to the Waterloo Barrack. Tong is a three-and-a-half year veteran of the Maryland State Police. He was flown by helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment.

Investigators say Tong was on patrol southbound on I-95 in the area of Route 175 when he stopped a Ford driven by Fabino De Aguiar, 35, of Silver Spring for displaying what appeared to be improper license plates. Tong’s marked patrol unit had its emergency lights activated as he left his car and began walking along the passenger side of De Aguiar’s car, the department says.
Authorities say a Mercury driven by Maureen Walter, 65, of Poolesville moved onto the shoulder, striking Tong’s patrol vehicle and the Ford stopped ahead of it. The impact of the crash forced the Ford into Tong, pushing him over the guardrail.
