Assault Rifles, Other Guns Stolen in Edgewater Burglary

A man was arrested Friday night in Edgewater on theft and weapons charges, say Anne Arundel County Police.

A man has been charged with stealing assault rifles and other guns from an Edgewater home while the resident was away.

Anne Arundel County Police say the burglary was reported about 11:30 p.m. Thursday night in the 300 block of Oakwood Road. The homeowner said that while they were gone someone broken in and stole multiple firearms, including semi-automatic handguns, assault rifles, and shotguns.

Wayne Matheu Franklin Jr., 37, with no fixed address was developed as a possible suspect in case; police didn’t release what led them to Franklin. He was arrested Friday night at a residence in the 3500 block of Loch Haven Road in Edgewater.

Police recovered several missing guns and charged Franklin with burglary, theft and weapons-related offenses.
