Jessup Fugitive Has Been Taken Into Custody: Police
A local worker called 911 to report that a man wearing a white hard hat and safety vest was behind a building in the 8200 block of Dorsey Run Road near the railroad tracks at approximately 9:30 a.m., according to authorities, who said the man ran when spotted. Upon investigation, police determined a hard hat and safety vest had been stolen from a storage building about a mile away, and packing materials were found in a concrete drainage tunnel near where the man was sighted, along with shoe prints.

Schools Fail To Prevent Sexual Assault: AP Report
The Associated Press says 32 states and the District of Columbia vary in how schools must track cases of student sexual assault. In Maryland, school districts reported there were 307 sexual attacks by students that led to suspension or expulsion over a four-year period. The AP also reports that Maryland officials do not verify what schools or districts report, and the state does not require training on preventing or responding to student-on-student sexual assault.

After Baltimore Orioles star outfielder Adam Jones said he was racially abused by Red Sox fans during a game, the park's patrons gave him a prolonged standing ovation. He gave his take on what he felt would make things right, and it was not what he called "special treatment."

'Smash Space' Principal In Kensington To Step Down

A principal is stepping down after setting up an area where teachers could relieve stress by using baseball bats on a broken rocking chair. Kensington Parkwood Elementary School Principal Barbara Leiss sent a letter to parents that said "recent events have been at distraction" at the school. She will stay through the end of the academic year, which ends June 30.

Anne Arundel Police Officer Charged With Sex Offenses
A detective was charged with sex offenses, assault, prostitution, misconduct in office and extortion by a government employee after allegedly meeting a woman in the Brooklyn area of Anne Arundel County, where money was exchanged for sex acts while he was on duty. Detectives then found he contacted a woman for prostitution again. They discussed sex acts in exchange for money, but they did not meet, police said.
