Firefighter Hospitalized, A Dozen Displaced After Blaze At Boston Home

The blaze broke out in the Mattapan neighborhood.

BOSTON, MA — One firefighter was transported to the hospital with injuries after the department battled a large residential fire Monday afternoon.

Crews responded to the three-alarm blaze at 7 Wilmore St. in the Mattapan neighborhood shortly after 1:30 p.m. Heavy smoke and flames could be seen emanating from both the second and third floors of the three-story home. The majority of the flames had been extinguished by 2:10 p.m., according to the Boston Fire Department.

According to Fire Commissioner Paul Burke, seven adults and five children have been displaced by the fire. Damages to the home are estimated to be worth approximately $750,000. No other injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire is now under investigation by the Fire Investigations Unit.
