2016 is almost in the books and needless to say, the year had some notable stories.

From a turkey gang roaming the streets, a desperate plea to play pro football, and the death of two beloved members of the Foxborough schools community, there were plenty of headlines in 2016.

Gabe Trost, who spent nearly two decades filling in for teachers at the high school, passed away in September at the age of 92.

9. Connecticut Man Charged with Having Weapons in Gillette Stadium Parking Lot

During the Winter Classic, police say Matthew Bromson placed small objects on cars in an employee parking lot and was in possession of multiple weapons, including darts, pills, and a double-edged knife.

8. Foxborough High School Makes Boston Magazine's Top High Schools

In Boston Magazine's look at the top high schools in Greater Boston, FHS came in at 50. The publication recently crunched data for class size, student-to-teacher ratio, test scores and more to determine the rankings.

7. Norton Man Killed in I-495 Crash Near Plainville-Foxborough Line

Early Thanksgiving morning, a wrong way crash on the highway took the life of a Norton man. The driver of the other vehicle, a 21-year-old Barnstable woman was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries.

6. Victim in Serious Foxborough Crash Dies

In April, a serious crash at the intersection of Route 140 and Cross Street left a Millis man dead.

5. Foxborough Teen Faces Child Porn Charges

In August, police executed a search warrant at a Central Street home and arrested a 16-year-old on child porn charges. Due to the suspect’s age, few details about the arrest were released.

4. Sign Language: Football Hopeful Going to Extreme for NFL Job

For most of May, Attleboro native Abiola Aborishade stood outside of Gillette Stadium with a sign asking the New England Patriots for a shot to play professional football.


3. Two Injured in Fiery Rollover Accident on Route 95

An October rollover crash on I-95 South left two people injured. A third person in the car avoided injuries.

2. Turkey Gang Worries Foxborough Residents

In September, there was a new gang in town trying to claim their turf. Residents said the group of turkeys tried to attack them and Animal Control Officer Sue Thibedeau said she received about three dozen calls about the birds.

1. Foxborough High Assistant Principal Joe Heinricher Passes Away

The Foxborough community lost a well-known member in March when native son and Foxborough High School Assistant Principal Joe Heinricher passed away.
