What a Great Idea!

What a Great Idea! Medford Visionaries and Inventors
A Lecture by Dee Morris

In 1791 Medford’s Aaron Putnam invented an improved method of distilling alcohol and was awarded the fifth American patent. Joshua Gray became the first to attach a rubber eraser to a pencil in 1856. The brick industry was saved when G. F. Blake created a steam engine that pumped water from the clay pits. George Parker’s teachers at Medford High School in the 1880s inspired him to create novelty board games. Later, he established Parker Brothers, the entertainment giant.
