From the MPL's website:
Medford trees have always added beauty to our streets. We are a Tree City, yet interest in our urban landscape is not new. Our history includes notable “tree-huggers” ranging from Peter Chardon Brooks, a gentleman farmer, and Elizur Wright, the father of the Middlesex Fells, to Lauren Dame, an educator and author of descriptive tree manuals.
Today many trees have lived for several decades as silent observers of the neighborhoods around them. Looking at our community from their perspective offers insights into our past and present.
Dee will talk about some of Medford’s famous trees and their place in Medford’s past and present. This program is funded in by the Medford Arts Council, a local agency, which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
