Medford Man Pleads Guilty in Federal Court

The man had an elaborate scheme set up with two career criminals to rob a Norwood check cashing business.

A 67-year-old Medford man and two career criminals had been planning to kidnap the 76-year-old owner of Forest Hills Check Cashing in Norwood from his home and then take him to the store, so they could rob it, according to authorities.

However, an FBI informant, who the Medford man had been trying to convince to join the plot, foiled the plan.

John Salvucci, of Medford, pleaded guilty Tuesday to a conspiracy to rob charge in federal court in Boston and will be sentenced Dec. 17, according to a Boston Globe report.

His alleged co-conspirators, 54-year-old James Chambers and 57-year-old George Whalen, who both have lengthy criminal records, have pleaded not guilty to a similar charge and are awaiting trail, according to the Globe.
