Medford Resident Wins Model Arab League Award

UMass Lowell Student Takes Part in Prestigious Competition

Caitlyn Farren of Medford received the Honorable Delegate Award as part of UMass Lowell's team in this year's Northeast Regional Model Arab League Competition.

Farren is a freshman majoring in psychology and political science. She was part of the Political Affairs Council representing the country of Syria.

UMass Lowell's team is comprised of members of the university's international relations club. The 21-member club contains students from a variety of majors, including political science, economics, psychology and mechanical engineering.

After a long hiatus, the club is in its second year of competing in Model Arab League Competitions, which took place in Boston.

This year, UMass Lowell competed against college teams from Columbia University, Harvard University and West Point, the U.S. Military Academy. Together, the club took home nine individual student awards.
