New Medford Library Awarded $100K Gift
The Connors Foundation, which hands out dozens of scholarships to students annually, donated $100k for construction of a new library.

MEDFORD, MA — The city has been awarded $100,000 from the James and Thelma Connors Foundation for construction of a new library. The organization, founded by James Connors after the death of his sister, Thelma, aids local students in achieving their educational goals and gives out 50 scholarships annually.
"The new Medford Library is a wonderful symbol of the educational and intellectual progress of the City," Barry Sloane, chairman of the Library Foundation, said in a statement. "It is evidence of Medford’s forward shared momentum."
Sloane and Mayor Stephanie M. Burke, both chairs of the Medford Public Library Foundation, announced the gift Tuesday. The trustees of the James and Thelma ConnorsFoundation include Chairperson John R. Granara, Vice Chair Steve Andrew, andMember, Michael J. McGlynn, former Mayor of Medford.
