New Medford Vocational Director Has Controversial Past

The Medford Vocational Technical High School has a new director, one who was dismissed from her previous post.

Heidi Riccio lost her job as director of career and technical education at Greater Lawrence Technical School in June when it was discovered that she had taken credit for a national award which she had not won, according to an article in the Boston Globe.

Superintendent Roy Belson said Riccio was upfront about the controversy during the interview process and said that he wanted her to be considered “for what she can bring to the school,” according to the Globe. She has worked in vocational education for 17 years, mostly at Greater Lawrence.
