1 Person Dead After Head-on Car Crash In Newton

The person died after being transported to the hospital.

NEWTON, MA — One person has died in the aftermath of a two-car accident on Beacon Street Wednesday afternoon, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Newton Police Chief Timothy Cohoon.

The 83-year-old man who died has not had his identity revealed. Ryan said he was traveling alone in his car heading eastbound on the road when it crossed over the yellow lane divider lanes and collided head-on with another vehicle driving in the opposite direction. He succumbed to his injuries not long after being transported to the hospital. The two occupants in the other car did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.

Beacon Street was closed from Walnut Street to Cold Spring Park for nearly four hours Wednesday as police and emergency services responded to the incident.
