Firefighter Hospitalized After Newton House Fire: Report

NEWTON, MA — One firefighter has been hospitalized in the aftermath of a house fire on River Street on Monday morning, according to a report from Boston 25 News.

Crews first responded to the scene shortly after 10 a.m. to find heavy smoke and flames emanating from the top floor of the two-and-a-half-story residence. Chief Gregory Gentile said that a resident of the home called 911 after seeing smoke on the third floor when he first woke up. He first became alerted that something was wrong when certain light switches were not working.

The Boston, Cambridge, Weston, Waltham, and Watertown Fire Departments provided mutual aid. No other injuries have been reported.
