📰 News we're reading

• New Boston Street bridge to open sometime around Labor Day (homenewshere.com) — A long-awaited New Boston Street bridge between East and North Woburn is set to open around Labor Day, with residents invited to walk the span before cars use it. The $28 million project restores a key commuter link lost since 1972 and supports major new housing, life sciences, and retail development around Commerce Way, Anderson Station, and Woburn Village.

• Feds award $140M for major Haverhill Commuter Line improvement project (homenewshere.com) — Major federal funding will add nearly seven miles of double track between Reading and Andover, easing bottlenecks on the Haverhill commuter rail line that also serves Woburn riders. The project replaces an earlier, abandoned "turnback track" proposal between Woburn and Willow Streets, promising fewer delays, better accessibility, and more reliable service into Boston once completed.
