Six Charged After NH Sobriety Checkpoint

NHSP, Manchester Police check 178 vehicles on South Willow Street.

MANCHESTER, NH – The New Hampshire State Police, along with Manchester Police, held another sobriety checkpoint, this time, in the Queen City.

The checkpoint was held on Friday night through the morning of July 16.

Five individuals were arrested:

  • Wilem Wonsang, 42, of Manchester, on an electronic bench warrant.
  • Michael Chute, 28, of New Boston, for disobeying a police officer.
  • Jeanine Georgalas, 44, of Nashua, for DWI.
  • William Manuel Garcia Nolasco, 24, of Manchester, for operating after suspension-subsequent offense.
  • One juvenile was arrested for possession of a controlled drug.

Another driver – Peter Bolanowski of Bow, was cited for operating after suspension.

“State Police Colonel Robert Quinn, Manchester Police Chief Nick Willard, and the officers of their departments consider the detection and apprehension of impaired drivers to be a top priority,” according to Sgt. S Callinan of the NHSP. “They will continue to collaborate and utilize sobriety checkpoints and other means to deter, detect and remove impaired drivers from New Hampshire's roadways.”

The checkpoint was authorized by an order of the Hillsborough Superior Court and conducted under guidelines promulgated by the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office.
