1 Dies, 1 Injured In North Country Crash: New Hampshire State Police Roundup

CONCORD, NH — New Hampshire State Police are investigating a rollover crash that took the life of a woman from Pike.
Around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, a trooper came across a crash involving a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado in the westbound lane of Route 25C in Piermont. The driver, Homer Taylor, 59, of Pike, was “seriously injured as a result of the crash and subsequently trapped inside of the vehicle,” said Amber Lagace, the public information officer for the department. A woman in the vehicle, Jane Santawa, 59, of also entrapped and died as a result of the crash.
“All aspects of the crash remain under investigation,” she said, “however speed and road conditions appear to be contributing factors.”

Troopers were assisted by members of the Upper Valley Ambulance, Bradford and Piermont fire departments, and Orford, Haverhill, and Piermont police departments.

A state police public safety leader has received a communications award for leadership and a commitment to the advancement of broadband communications for personnel.
John Stevens received the Chief Harlin R. McEwen Public Safety Broadband Communications Award on Wednesday, according to the First Responder Network Authority. McEwen was the founding chairman of the organization and assisted in establishing the organization.
For nearly a decade, Stevens has served as the statewide interoperability coordinator in the office of the Commissioner and the Division of Emergency Services and Communications for the New Hampshire Department of Safety. As the coordinator, he ensures interoperable communications for public safety across the state and the private sector.
“I am honored to receive the Harlin McEwen Award,” Stevens said. “Throughout my career, I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside the men and women who protect our communities in New Hampshire. Advocating for New Hampshire’s police, fire, and emergency medical personnel and public safety dispatch has been the highlight of my career. I truly believe that they deserve nothing but the very best.”

Justin Bruce Digaetano, 32, of Portland, ME, was arrested at 7:13 a.m. on Oct. 27 on reckless conduct-deadly weapon, driving under the influence, driving after revocation or suspension, conduct after an accident, driving without giving proof, and disobeying an officer charges after an incident in Raymond.
Michael J. Demeritt, 42, of Farmington was arrested on a warrant and a bench warrant at 12:41 p.m. on Oct. 25 in Rochester.
John Raymond Huckins, 35, of Alton was arrested on a bench warrant at 9:14 a.m. on Oct. 25 in Gonic.
Skyla M. Gallagher, 24, of Manchester and Sean David Akin, 21, of Manchester were arrested at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 25 on possession of more than three-fourths of an ounce of marijuana or 5 grams of hashish charges.
