4 New Hampshire Corrections Fugitives Apprehended: Follow-Up

Cornelius Sanborn, Shaunna Lee Murphy, Greg Gifford, and Emilio Ciriello, featured during the past 6 months, were all found recently.

CONCORD, NH — The New Hampshire Department of Corrections has captured four wanted people during the past month after they were featured as fugitives of the week.

Greg Joseph Gifford, Shaunna Lee Murphy, Emilio Gennaro Ciriello, and Cornelius Ransom Sanborn were all recently found by investigators. Here is a rundown of their apprehensions.

Sanborn, 50, was wanted on probation violations stemming from an underlying conviction of failure to register as a sex offender. He was featured in late November 2023. Sanborn, who is a sex offender due to a felonious sexual assault conviction against a child in May 1992, was arrested on Jan. 15 by the Belknap County Sheriff's Office. He was charged and posted bail later.

Murphy, 33, was wanted on probation violations after being convicted on habitual offender and drug charges. She was featured on Jan. 24.

Probation officers, along with Rumney police, conducted “a home visit,” to find her, and she was seen outside of the residence, according to officials. Murphy was accused of fleeing after seeing police arrive.

“Probation parole officers engaged in a foot pursuit into the woods,” an alert stated, “successfully apprehending Murphy, who was subsequently transported to the Grafton County House of Corrections.”

Murphy, officials said, was accused of possessing multiple baggies of unknown drugs as well as a knife and metallic knuckles. She was also accused of having drugs on her person when she was brought into the Grafton County Jail. Additional charges are expected against Murphy by the county as well as Rumney police for felon in possession, resisting arrest, and drug possession charges. She is being held on $10,000 cash bail.

Ciriello, 54, was wanted on parole violations stemming after being convicted of assault and witness tampering charges. He was featured on July 20, 2023.

On Feb. 7, a resident of a sober house in Boston, Massachusetts, tipped off New Hampshire officials after they received threats from someone they thought might be Ciriello.

“The informant found Ciriello through the Fugitive of the Week poster online,” an alert stated. “The probation parole officer gathered the necessary information and promptly contacted the Boston Police Department.”

Police found and arrested Ciriello at a reported address, he was taken to the East Boston Court House, and is expected to be held in Boston, until transportation arrangements are made to bring him back to the Granite State.

Gifford, 60, who was wanted on a parole violation after being convicted of threatening a judge, was featured in late January. Investigators said he was found by the Massachusetts Violent Apprehension Section on Feb. 7, “based on tips we received” after his fugitive post was published. Gifford is being held in Massachusetts with his next court date scheduled for March 6, officials said.

Corrections officials thanked several partners including the Massachusetts State Police Violent Apprehension Section, the Rumney Police Department, the Boston Police Department, and the Belknap County Sheriff’s Office.

“Additionally,” officials said, “the department extends its thanks to the public for their assistance in these recent cases. The successful collaboration between all parties involved demonstrates the commitment to ensuring public safety.”
