CONCORD, NH — State police are investigating the death of a man who was found inside a tractor-trailer at the Route 101 eastbound weigh station in Epping on Sunday.
According to New Hampshire State Police, troopers responded to the weigh station at about 5 p.m. to conduct a welfare check on the occupant of a tractor-trailer unit that had been parked there for an extended period of time. Troopers identified the truck as a 2024 Peterbilt and the tractor-trailer was locked.
According to state police, a preliminary investigation raised concerns about the driver's safety, and they asked the Epping Fire Department to help them enter the vehicle. Once inside the cab, troopers found the driver, a man, dead. An autopsy was conducted by the New Hampshire Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, according to state police. State police reported that the driver was positively identified and that next-of-kin notifications were completed, but his identity is being withheld pending the ongoing investigation.
The eastbound weigh station remained closed for about seven hours while emergency crews and troopers worked at the scene.
State police said troopers were assisted by the Epping Police and Fire Departments, the Brentwood Police and Fire Department, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
According to state police, the death does not appear suspicious and there is no known threat to public safety.

Keri Pagnozzi Credit: New Hampshire State Police
A woman whose disappearance led to a large police search in Concord Wednesday faces new charges.
State police said Keri Pagnozzi, 46, was taken into custody at about 8 p.m. Wednesday after a member of the public reported seeing someone matching her description near the Presidential Oaks Home, within a quarter mile of Rum Hill Road. Troopers responded, identified Pagnozzi and arrested her.
The search drew numerous State Troopers, State Office Complex Police and Concord Police officers to the Rum Hill area after Pagnozzi left Concord Hospital, state police said. She had been released on bail to obtain medical services at the hospital.
Pagnozzi, according to state police, was first arrested by the Conway Police Department on Aug. 13, in connection with a theft from an area business two days before. After being released on personal recognizance bail, she called and left numerous messages at the Conway Police Department, including threats to harm the arresting officer. Conway officers then sought and received an arrest warrant charging Pagnozzi with criminal threatening and harassment. On Aug. 20, officers arrested her on that warrant in Bartlett and arraigned her in Conway District Court. The court ordered her held on preventive detention at the Carroll County Jail.
Concerns later developed about Pagnozzi's mental health at the jail, and her bail was modified through an emergency motion, state police said. She was transferred to New Hampshire Hospital on Sept. 3.
While at New Hampshire Hospital, staff developed concern for her health and brought her to Concord Hospital on Tuesday. After she left the hospital the next day, state police used a Wireless Emergency Alert, social media, and a press release to notify the public about the search and request assistance.
Conway police have filed a motion in court, which resulted in an electronic bench warrant for Pagnozzi's arrest.

Patrick Allen Boyer, the subject of a multi-agency search, was arrested on multiple charges in Keene on Thursday.
Around 1 p.m. on Sept. 16, state police received a report of an assault committed by Boyer, 39, of Nelson. Troopers investigated the incident and issued a warrant for his arrest along with a BOLO (be-on-the-lookout) advisory for local departments.
At approximately 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, it was reported that Boyer was around Route 10 in Swanzey. Law enforcement units responded and began searching the area. Shortly after, Keene police observed Boyer and his vehicle. At around 12:45 p.m., a pursuit was initiated by members of the Cheshire County Sheriff's Office and the Harrisville Police Department. The pursuit ultimately ended on Route 9 in Stoddard due to public safety concerns.
Troopers and area law enforcement responded and began searching the area. Boyer was in his vehicle in a wooded area off Richer Road in Stoddard, state police said. Upon seeing the troopers, Boyer fled across Route 9 into the nearby wooded area, a report stated. An exhaustive search followed, complicated by nightfall and inclement weather moving through the region.
As the search continued, emergency alerts, road closures, and available updates were used to inform the community and ensure the safety of those in the area.
The search continued through the overnight hours into the morning. At around 6:45 a.m., Troopers received a tip about Boyer's whereabouts. While responding to the area, troopers were told he had stolen a vehicle in Stoddard, they said.
Shortly after, officers observed Boyer driving the stolen vehicle in Nelson, state police said. After he refused to stop for Marlborough Police Department officers, officers pursued him, a report stated. Multiple agencies responded and successfully deployed a tire deflation device on Route 9 in Keene, state police said. Boyer then drove his vehicle off the road and into the woods, where he fled on foot.
Boyer continued to the area of Concord Road, where he stole another vehicle, according to a report. Later, law enforcement received another tip, indicating Boyer was around Winchester Street in Keene. With the assistance of the state police helicopter, Boyer's vehicle was located, abandoned in a plaza off Winchester Street, state police said. Troopers spotted Boyer and engaged in a foot pursuit, with helicopter support, according to a report.
Boyer was charged with the original felony warrant and additional charges related to the vehicle pursuits and stolen vehicles. As the investigation continues, additional charges are expected. Boyer was held and arraigned on Monday.
Troopers were assisted by members of the Cheshire County Sheriff's Office, the Marlborough Police Department, the Harrisville Police Department, the Keene Police Department, the Stoddard Fire & Rescue, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, and Cheshire County EMS.
