Ardinger Out of Concord School Board Race
Long-time board member files to run for school treasurer instead; another Ward council incumbent files; Ward 6 seat is wide open.

The filings don’t end until Sept. 14, but there will at least be one possible new face on the Concord Board of Education after the Nov. 3, 2015, election.
Long-time board member Kass Ardinger has decided not to run for a fourth three-year term, according to the latest filings. But that doesn’t mean she’s completely out of the school business, if you will.
Instead, Ardinger, who went through a rough state Senate primary last year, has filed to run for the three-year treasurer seat currently held by Roger Brooks who has served in the position since it became an elected position after the district’s charter commission.

Ardinger deciding not to run leaves at least one open at-large position open on the board. Both Clint Cogswell, the current president of the board, and Nathan Fennessy, filed to run yesterday.

More city filings
As expected, Brent Todd, the current Ward 1 City Councilor, has filed for re-election. He was elected last year after long-time Councilor Liz Blanchard chose not to run again.
With three more days left to file, no one has signed up to run for the Ward 6 seat, currently held by J. Allen Bennett, who plans on moving out of state with his wife.
Ward 6 represents the neighborhoods east of South Main Street from the border with Bow all the way up to Water Street. It also represents most of the area between Langley Parkway and Storrs Street from Clinton Street north to Pleasant Street (with the exception of the Redington Road neighborhood). Ward 6 also represents the Downtown district from School Street south between North Spring and Storrs streets.
Also filing to run were Philip Yeaton for Ward 4 Moderator, Dennis Thivierge for Ward 7 Moderator, and Donna Benson for Ward 8 Moderator.
