CONCORD, NH — A Concord man, with a number of priors, was arrested last month accused of cutting and assaulting a woman during an argument in apartment in Downtown Concord.

Around 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 14, officers were sent to Warren street for a disturbance report with a woman screaming at a man to put down a knife. They spoke to a witnesses who stated that the man, later identified as Jesse John Deflorio, 28, of Warren Street in Concord, had left the building on a bicycle while the woman also left.

Other officers searched the area and found Deflorio on a bicycle near the Statehouse and spoke to him. During questioning, he began to get upset and said he and the woman were arguing about relationship and family issues, an affidavit said. He admitted to being in possession of a knife but later, said he got rid of it since he was a felon, the report claimed. Deflorio claimed the woman "tried to grab the knife from him" and "cut her thumb in the process." When asked where the woman was, Deflorio said she was walking to Concord Hospital to get treatment, an affidavit said.

Another officer caught up with the woman and most of her story was similar to Deflorio's. She said Deflorio appeared to be faking some of his issues, waving the knife around, so "he could harm her," the affidavit said. When she tried to leave to get treatment for her injury, "Jesse grabbed her in the parking garage in a way to try to stop her from going to the hospital," the report said. The victim described the knife as having a dark, silver color to it and was around 5 inches long with a waffle handle.

Deflorio was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, second-degree assault-domestic violence, falsifying physical evidence, and felon in possession of dangerous weapons, all felonies, as well as reckless conduct, simple assault, and domestic violence-simple assault charges.
