Concord Man Arrested for Assaulting Two Women
Jonathan McCarthy allegedly threatened the women, struck them in the head, and vandalized items in an apartment on Pitman Street.

CONCORD, NH — A local man was arrested recently on assault and threat charges after allegedly incident at the Crutchfield Building on Pitman Street, according to police and court documents. Jonathan M. McCarthy, 33, of Pitman Street in Concord, was arrested at 2:24 a.m. on Nov. 18, 2016, and charged with two counts of simple assault, domestic violence-simple assault, domestic violence-criminal threatening, criminal threatening, and default or breach of bail conditions.

Police were called to 15 Pitman St. at just before midnight for a report of a domestic dispute in one of the apartments, with neighbors reportedly hearing screaming. Another caller reached out to police alleging that a woman had sustained a head wound, according to an affidavit. The suspect – McCarthy – reportedly fled the scene from the back side of the building.

The reporting officer stated that she knew McCarthy and the victim from previous calls. They’ve been dating about eight years, the report noted.
The officers arrived to speak to the victim who was outside of the apartment crying and complaining of head pain. A witness stated that McCarthy was not supposed to be in the apartment due to a no contact bail order issued in late September, the affidavit noted. The report stated that the witness believed McCarthy was allegedly “hostile and aggressive due to his alcohol consumption,” according to the report.

The woman stated that McCarthy allegedly smacked a Big Gulp soda cup full of liquid off a table and toward her, soaking her jeans. He then allegedly moved a cup off the table, picked up a chair, and threw it at her, allegedly threatening to strike her with a closed fist, according to the report.
The pair continued to argue in the kitchen and then McCarthy allegedly struck her in the head with his closed fist. Another person came to assist and she was allegedly punched, too, five to six times. The officer acknowledged the victims’ injuries, according to the report.
“I checked several locations in an attempt to find McCarthy in fear he may return and continue his course of conduct,” the reporting officer noted.
The officer headed to Thompson Street where a relative of McCarthy’s lived and reportedly found him, covered in a hooded sweatshirt, walking on Thompson Street toward South Main Street.
McCarthy was then arrested and held without bail.
In a separate incident on Sept. 30, the couple allegedly fought with each other because the woman would not make McCarthy a sandwich, according to court documents. He allegedly threw a candle and a television remote.
During the arrest process, McCarthy allegedly resisted arrest numerous times and then, head-butted a glass table multiple times, according to the report.
Officers reportedly took him to the ground and he allegedly grabbed onto the leg of one of the officer’s legs and kicked another officer in the arm while he was being restrained, the report alleged.
