Concord Police Log: South Carolina Man Bagged for DWI
Plus, woman arrested on a bench warrant at the scene of an OD; teen smashes plate after argument about food.

Brett A. Cathern, 32, of Camlin Court in Columbia, SC, was arrested at 2:13 a.m. on Feb. 22, 2015, on two counts of driving while intoxicated. While monitoring traffic on School Street, an officer heard a Ford Mustang rev its engine coming out of the Durgin Block Parking Garage. The vehicle quickly accelerated while making a wide left turn, nearly striking another vehicle, and spinning in 270 degree turn until it was facing the wrong way in front of the police cruiser. The vehicle was pulled over on Capital Street and the officer approached the driver, Cathern, who allegedly smelled like alcohol. Cathern reportedly apologized stating he wasn’t used to driving in the snow, since he was from South Carolina. The officer later learned that he was reportedly staying in Hopkinton and had just left Penuche’s. Cathern allegedly smelled like alcohol, agreed to a field sobriety test, and was arrested.
Katharine R. Ayer, 29, of Summer Street in Penacook, was arrested at 3:17 a.m. on Feb. 21, on a bench warrant on a theft charge out of Concord District Court from Feb. 10, 2015. Officers were sent to the apartment for a report of a heroin overdose. Concord Fire and Rescue teams revived the person with Narcan. The officers spoke to other people in the apartment including Ayer who had had an active bench warrant and was arrested. She’s due in court on April 6.
Ian S. Hanley, 33, of East Side Drive in Concord, was arrested a 1:18 p.m. on Feb. 20, on a bench warrant from Feb. 5, 2015, for nonpayment of fines out of Concord District Court, $670 cash to settle. He was arrested after a traffic stop on Loudon Road.

Kevin E. Wood, 42, of Old Loudon Road in Concord, was arrested at 8:32 p.m. on Feb. 18, on a criminal mischief charge at Concord Hospital walk-in care on Commercial Street on Jan. 30, 2015. He’s due in court on March 30.
Devin A. Baillie, 37, a homeless man now located in Concord, was arrested at 5:10 p.m. on Feb. 18, on a bench warrant. Officers were sent to Eagle Square for a report of a man smoking inside a stairwell. Officers found two men smoking in the stairwell and one, Baillie, had a warrant on a criminal trespassing charge from Feb. 10, 2015, and was arrested. Due to his alleged level of intoxication, he was held.

Kristina K. Longley, 23, of Loudon Road in Pittsfield, was arrested at 10:09 a.m. on Feb. 18, on a felony possession of a controlled drug from an incident on Jan. 9, 2015, at Salisbury Green on Loudon Road. She was arrested by Pittsfield Police and later, picked up by a Concord officer and transported back to the city.
Christopher M. Binis, 30, of Grove Street in Concord, was arrested at 9:48 a.m. on Feb. 18, on a bench warrant from Concord District Court for nonappearance on an operating without a valid license charge.
Christienne J. Bardwell, 29, of Thorndike Street in Concord, was arrested at 9:36 a.m. on Feb. 18, on a bench warrant out of Concord District Court for nonpayment of fines on an obstructing the report of a crime or injury charge, $385 cash to settle, from Dec. 12, 2014. He was arrested after police assisted with a disabled vehicle at the intersection of South Main and Water streets.
Jessica Duran, 18, of Country Club Drive in Manchester, received a summons at 9:05 a.m. on Feb. 18, on a driving after revocation or suspension charge after a no right turn on red violation on North Main Street. Duran’s license was suspended on Feb. 5, 2015. She’s due in court on March 23.
Jessica L. Lantagne, 39, of Amherst Street in Nashua, was arrested at 4:35 p.m. on Feb. 17, and charged with theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and receiving stolen property after an incident on Dec. 10, 2014, at the Morning Start Apartments on Loudon Road. Lantagne was being held in the Valley Street Jail and was picked up by a Concord officer. She’s due in court on March 30.
Benjamin Wilber, 32, of Alton Woods Drive in Concord, was arrested at 6:04 p.m. on Feb. 14, on driving while intoxicated, second offense, and habitual offender charges, both felonies. Officers were sent to Loudon Road for an accident with possible injuries. The first driver, Wilber, reportedly stated that he was pulling out of 239 Loudon Road when he was struck by another vehicle. The other driver stated that he was trying to avoid Wilber’s vehicle but the roads were slippery. The officer asked Wilber for his license and he allegedly “appeared to be hesitant” to present his license. He handed the officer a non-driver ID card. A check revealed that Wilber had a suspended license and he was arrested. While speaking to Wilber in the cruiser, the officer alleged that he smelled alcohol coming from the back and dispatch revealed that he had three previous DWI convictions, the most recent in September 2013 in Rochester. Wilber agreed to a field sobriety test at police headquarters and the DWI charge was added.
Jennifer L. Forbes, 27, of North Main Street in Manchester, was arrested at 5:15 p.m. on Feb. 14, on possession of controlled drugs and falsifying physical evidence, both felonies, from an incident on Jan. 28, 2015. She’s due in court on March 23.
Luke J. Kendall, 55, of Branch Turnpike in Concord, was arrested at 4:31 p.m. on Feb. 14, for felony duty to report and change of registration information; duty to inform, from Feb. 5, 2015. He’s due in court on March 23.
William E. Clifton Jr., 50, a homeless man now located in Concord, was arrested at 3:42 p.m. on Feb. 14, for being a habitual offender, a felony, possession of drugs, and possession of controlled drugs. An officer was sent to the Irving gas station on Village Street for an intoxicated man attempting to buy alcohol. The man reportedly returned to a Ford Ranger pickup truck. While en route, the reporting officer saw the vehicle on North State Street and pulled it over. The driver, Clifton, was questioned about the incident and reportedly told the officer that he was driving the passenger’s truck. The passenger, he said, was the man who was trying to buy more beer but was refused the sale. He decided to drive so that the passenger didn’t get a DWI arrest, according to the reprot. Clifton, however, was a habitual offender, and was arrested. During processing, officers allegedly found marijuana and a joint inside a box of Marlboros.
Brandon Howard, 17, of Manor Road in Concord, was arrested at 2:05 p.m. on Feb. 14, on a criminal mischief charge. Officers were sent to Manor Road for a report of an out of control teenager. When officers arrived, they found food scattered all over the kitchen floor, a chair tipped over in a dining room, and food on the walls, floor, and furniture. The teen was separated from his mother and stepfather. According to Howard, his mother prepared some food and asked him to come out of his room to eat. He said he didn’t want to eat but later, went out the dining room anyway and sat down. After sitting down, “Howard said he became more and more angry about being told to eat and subsequently threw his plate of food (tacos) off the table,” the report alleged. The mother stated that she asked him to come out and eat and he came out and allegedly became angry and threw his dish in the corner. The stepfather added that Howard was asked “numerous times” to come out but didn’t. He added that a discussion took place about Howard eating too much junk food. The stepfather stated that Howard didn’t have to eat but if he didn’t, he might lose his television and electronics privileges. Howard allegedly became angry, and threw his dish into the corner of the room. The stepfather then unplugged his television and game system and the police were called. Howard was arrested and held without bail.
