CONCORD, NH — A long-time member of New Hampshire law enforcement has been named to the state’s judicial conduct committee.

John Mullen, a former Amherst police officer and state trooper, was named to the committee on Friday. For more than three decades, he has been working in various forms of law enforcement — from police officer, to trooper, to compliance. Most recently, during the past eight years or so, Mullen worked for the New Hampshire State Police Professional Standards Unit as a compliance sergeant. He was promoted later to the rank of lieutenant in 2016 and eventually served as the commander of the Professional Standards Unit.

The state of New Hampshire’s Judicial Conduct Committee reviews the conduct of judges in an effort to sustain public confidence in the judicial system. The committee was formed in 1973 after New Hampshire became one of the first states in the country to adopt a code of judicial conduct. It has been overseeing disciplinary actions since 1977.
