Nickolas Steven Messier, 39, of Bert Street in Hooksett was arrested at 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 26 on theft by unauthorized taking and five fake sales receipt-UPC Code charges, all felonies. Around 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 21, an officer was sent to Target for a past-tense theft. A loss prevention employee said a man had been coming into the store, stealing and hiding items, and then ringing other items up with different barcodes. The officer eyed video footage showing the man switching tags on the items. The incidents occurred in July and involved baseball and football trading cards, Pokemon trading cards, and a child’s comforter. The total value of the thefts was around $295. The employee stated the store had tracked the man, Messier, down from his debit card and vehicle registration. The officer eyed video footage and a recent booking photo, attempting to match tattoos from the footage. This was done via Facebook, too, the officer wrote. The officer called Messier on Oct. 15 and while he said he may have shopped there in July, he denied doing anything wrong and said it was “a friend,” an affidavit said. When asked for the friend’s name, he was accused of not saying. When asked about any other incidents, Messier said there was a time when he was accused of stealing from the store, and he denied it, the report said. The report said he then went out to his vehicle to get more money and finished paying. Since Messier has two prior convictions, the theft charge was elevated to a felony. A warrant was issued on Nov. 21. In superior court, the case was revised to be four felony theft by deception charges, and he was arraigned on Dec. 15. Messier is due back in superior court for a dispositional conference on April 17, 2023.

Zachary P. Rivet, 33, of Doris Drive in Gilford was arrested at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 25 on a felony felon in possession of a dangerous weapon charge. The charge stemmed from an incident on Regional Drive.
