NH's Young Children Discussed at Gubernatorial Forum

Six of the Granite State's 10 major political party candidates for governor will be at St. A's the talk about kids.

MANCHESTER, NH — Sparks NH, an early childhood advisory council created to promote a comprehensive system of early childhood programs and services in New Hampshire, is hosting a gubernatorial forum on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, featuring six of the state's 10 major party candidates for governor, according to a press statement. The event will be held from 9:20 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College in 100 Saint Anselm Drive in Manchester.

Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas will speak at 9:30 a.m. Fellow Republican candidate Chris Sununu will appear at 10 a.m. From 10:30 a.m. until noon, three of the five Democrats running for governor, Mark Connolly, Steve Marchand, and Colin Van Ostern, will speak, and then at noon, Jeannie Forrester will speak.

Derek Dextraze and Ian Freeman are also on the ballot running for the Democratic nomination; Frank Edelblut and Jonathan Lavoie are also candidates running for the Republican nomination.

Spark NH, according to the org, is dedicated to improving the lives of young children and their families. The org's vision is that all New Hampshire children and their families are healthy, learning and thriving now and in the future. Spark NH ‘s 23 professionals (all governor-appointed) have experience in early learning and development, health, and family support. This Council relies on the work of broad-based committees, which are open to non-Council members, according to the org.

The primary is Sept. 13.
