Mirsky’s List-Strongest Candidates-President 2020: Booker Unites
Give our democracy a chance: Be informed, register for the 2020 New Hampshire Primary, and vote.

Exeter, New Hampshire – This is Attorney David Mirsky reporting from the frontlines of the 2020 Presidential race with my latest reading of the situation here, on the ground in the New Hampshire Seacoast Town of Exeter, a veritable hotbed of political activity.
I’m using my new procedure for constructing My List of the Strongest Candidates for President; it starts and ends with the message board on our refrigerator in our kitchen here in Exeter, a photo of which is pictured above. To see the changes in the List that have led up to the latest article, you can find those on my Twitter feed, @Dave_Mirsky.
There are some very divisive, discordant, disturbing and brutal events occurring in our country right now, but in this article I will stick to my discussion of the list. There will be a New Hampshire Presidential Primary next February and a General Election next fall, so, keep your mind on everything that is revealed about our current President by Special Counsel Robert Mueller next week, but for the Presidential Primary scuttlebutt, you can get most of that right here.

DEMOCRATS

1. Cory Booker, US Senator from New Jersey and former Mayor of Newark, New Jersey. Cory Booker came to Exeter last Saturday, and was well received by a crowd of 200 at a house party, which transpired in 89 degree heat. I have described Cory Booker’s July 13, 2019 Exeter house party in my previous article. (See my article on Cory Booker, just posted this month on Exeter Patch.) Suffice it to say that Cory Booker is inspirational and right on point about the need to unite this country around America’s longstanding positive ideals of compassion, service to one another, and economic empowerment of everyone below the one percent level, including everyone.

2. Joe Biden, former US Vice President to President Barack Obama, and longtime US Senator from Delaware. Joe Biden has the strength to do this. He is popular across the board, particularly among Republicans seeking redemption. Joe Biden is an established, intense, likeable person, who can project himself as a leader capable of restoring American values and the stature of the United States in the world. You know him, Joe Biden.
3. Elizabeth Warren, Harvard Law School Professor, native of Oklahoma, and current US Senator from Massachusetts. Elizabeth Warren rises on the list because she is thrashing the Trump administration in important committee hearings in the U.S. Senate, and because she has complete credibility in doing so. Elizabeth Warren is a Leader.
4. Bernie Sanders, US Senator from Vermont and Candidate for President in 2016. Bernie Sanders has espoused many progressive ideas that are now completely accepted in this country. He has a strong core of support, knows how to communicate with large numbers of people, and is a readily identifiable character. Even skeptics must agree that he is a formidable campaigner.
5. Beto O’Rourke, former Congressman from El Paso, Texas, and a strong candidate for US Senate against Texas Senator Ted Cruz in 2018. Beto O’Rourke has the advantage of hitting the ground running after his recent run for the US Senate in 2018. Beto is a humanitarian, a creative thinker, a kindhearted soul with a unique ability to reach out across the entire American culture and connect with people on a positive, upbeat level. (See my prior article on Beto O’Rourke on Exeter Patch.)
6. Kirsten Gillibrand, US Senator from New York. Kirsten Gillibrand is brilliant. To understand what I am saying you must attend one of her political events. (See my prior article on Senator Kirsten Gillibrand on Exeter Patch.) Senator Gillibrand’s major issues are establishing a system of universal affordable, quality health care, and removing the corrupting and destructive influence of Big Money from our politics. We will have a strong, proud, and effective champion if Kirsten Gillibrand becomes our President.
7. Julian Castro, former Mayor of San Antonio, Texas, and former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President Barack Obama. Julian Castro is a strong voice for American democracy. He was the Keynote Speaker at the 2012 Democratic National Convention, and that speech can be viewed on YouTube, check it out. Julian Castro is a leader for the future. He has recently made more visits to New Hampshire and is someone to whom attention should be paid.
8. Amy Klobuchar, US Senator from Minnesota. Senator Klobuchar has been an important leader in US Senate confirmation hearings regarding the Trump administration. I would expect her to make an important contribution during the Robert Mueller hearings that are expected to occur in the coming week. Senator Klobuchar was recently endorsed by New Hampshire Executive Councilor Debra Pignatelli, an important political leader in New Hampshire whose support indicates that Klobuchar has credibility here. I believe she has focused her time mostly on Iowa, but I would expect Amy Klobuchar to increase her visits to New Hampshire very soon. That would certainly improve her chances.
9. Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Indiana. Mayor Buttigieg has strong and committed support throughout this country. He has a demeanor of quiet strength, and has a resonating voice which enables him to make very compelling presentations. There is a lot of competition for the Presidency this year, but Pete Buttigieg has established himself as one of the players.
10. Kamala Harris, US Senator from California. Senator Harris has strong support in the Cable TV News Media, which has provided her with early higher numbers in the polls. Kamala Harris is a forceful speaker and an incisive questioner in US Senator committee hearings. I would expect Kamala Harris to again make her mark at the upcoming Robert Mueller hearings, if they transpire. I believe Senator Harris did not succeed in vanquishing former US Vice President Joe Biden in their recent debate appearance together, which seemed to be her goal.
There is a delicate balance that must be maintained between these Democratic candidates who must compete against one another while at the same time working toward the shared goal of restoring our democracy.
And so for now, I hope you all can stay cool in this hot Summer Heat. And I hope, for our country’s sake, that you can stay focused on what is right and what is wrong with our country. There is definitely something wrong going on in our country right now. Attention must be paid.
