2nd Arrest Made In August 2024 Nashua Park Shooting Case
Marielita Torres was arrested on riot, criminal threatening, and attempted second-degree assault charges after an incident in Sullivan Park.

NASHUA, NH — A woman from Nashua is facing several felony charges after being accused of participating in a shooting incident in a park last year, according to police.
On Aug. 21, 2024, officers were sent to the area of Sullivan Park for a report of shots fired. When they arrived, police found a man on the ground after being shot in the leg. The man, identified as Alexander Rivera Aponte, 42, of Nashua, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Sgt. John Cinelli, a public information officer and communications division supervisor with the Nashua Police Department.
“Officers were able to speak with witnesses and involved parties who advised there was a fight between two groups,” he said. “During the fight, there were several gunshots heard.”

Detectives continued investigating the incident and accused Aponte, along with Marielita Torres, 33, of Nashua, of making plans to confront a group of juveniles in the park.

“A fight ensued at Sullivan Park, and at least two separate guns had been fired,” Cinelli said.
Warrants were issued against Aponte and Torres. Aponte was arrested on felony riot and violation of a protective order charges, as well as an outstanding drug-related warrant on a subsequent possession charge, on Jan. 10.
Torres was arrested Thursday on riot, attempted second-degree assault-deadly weapon, reckless conduct-deadly weapon, and criminal threatening-deadly weapon charges, all felonies. She was held without bail and was scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.
According to superior court records, Torres was convicted of a misdemeanor criminal mischief charge in April 2011 after being charged with a felony in Nashua in May 2009 when she was a teenager. She was fined $1,240, which was suspended, and required to pay $1,214.46 in restitution.
