NASHUA, NH — Computer forensics officers with the Nashua Police Department were busy working in November on another case where a Massachusetts man was accused of attempting to set up a sexual encounter with a person he thought was a child. The officers began an investigation of David Niemi, 39, of Champlain Street in Dracut, MA, who "was communicating with a person Niemi believed to be a child," according to Lt. Daniel Mederos of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Nashua Police Department.

"During the course of this investigation, Niemi agreed to travel to a location in Nashua to engage in sexual contact with a person Niemi believed to be a child," Mederos said. "As a result of the investigation, Niemi was arrested on Nov. 21, 2019, after traveling to this location to meet the person he believed to be a child."

Niemi was charged with attempted felonious sexual assault and certain uses of computer services prohibited, both Class B felonies, punishable by up to seven years in prison for each count and fines. He was released on $500 cash bail and is due Hillsborough County Superior Court-South on Dec. 5.
