Three Arrested at NH Sobriety Checkpoint
Maine woman charged with DWI; juvenile arrested for felony drug dealing charge.
On Friday, 17, 2015, the Portsmouth Police Department held a sobriety checkpoint on Market Street and during the course of checking more than 200 drivers, made three arrests, according to Capt. Frank Warchol of the Portsmouth Police Department.

Jo-An Irene Thompson, 44, of Langley Farm Road in Eliot, ME, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, second offense, felony possession of a controlled drug, possession of a controlled drug, and transporting alcohol (open container).

A juvenile was also arrested and charged with transporting drugs in a motor vehicle and felony possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute.

Police held the checkpoint between 10 p.m. on July 17, and 3 a.m. on July 18. In all, 264 drivers were screened, according to the report. One driver was also cited for operating after suspension. The Portsmouth Police Explorer Post assisted in the operation, according to Warchol. The checkpoint was approved by the Rockingham County Superior Court.
