Another Sobriety Checkpoint is Coming to NH

New Hampshire State Police say they will hold a checkpoint next weekend.

Colonel Robert Quinn, the director of the New Hampshire State Police and Chief Paul Donovan of the Salem Police Department announce that during the weekend of Aug. 28, 2015, State Police Troopers from Troop B in Bedford and officers of the Salem Police Department will conduct a Sobriety Checkpoint in Salem, according to a press statement.

The checkpoint is authorized by the Rockingham County Superior Court, and will be conducted under guidelines promulgated by the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, according to Sgt. Steven Callinan of the NHSP.

The New Hampshire State Police and the Salem Police consider the identification and apprehension of impaired drivers and enforcement of the driving while intoxicated statutes to be a top priority. Sobriety checkpoints are one of the best methods of deterring the impaired driver, Callinan noted.
