Second Person Arrested In Manchester-Derry Kidnapping Case

MANCHESTER, NH — A second person wanted after a kidnapping and robbery incident that started in Manchester and ended in Derry has been found and charged.

According to police, a victim reported Friday that he was kidnapped from a residence in Manchester at knifepoint, taken to a number of locations, and then left in Derry. The victim said he was robbed of his cell phone and wallet, stripped, beaten, and then tied to a tree. After freeing himself, he was able to get in touch with police and file a complaint.

The victim knew the accused attackers, police noted Sunday. One suspect, Ronald Betances, 37, of Manchester was arrested Saturday on kidnapping and robbery charges. An alert for a second suspect, Ariel Dupuis, 29, of Manchester was issued by police later.

Dupuis was arrested at just before 10 p.m. on criminal liability to kidnapping and criminal liability to robbery.

Betances is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in both Hillsborough County Superior Court North and Manchester Circuit Court on charges. Dupuis was released on $2,500 personal recognizance bail and is due in Hillsborough County Superior Court North July 30.

Dupuis has had a number of run-ins with police, according to reports online. She was sought by police in January 2016 after a shooting incident inside a Londonderry hotel while having an active warrant on a heroin possession charge. In 2017, Dupuis was arrested on a possession charge after a traffic stop by New Hampshire State Police in Windham and arrested on numerous driving charges in Merrimack. Last that year, she was arrested by Rockingham County Sheriffs on a judge's order for possession of Tramadol and crack cocaine as well as falsifying physical evidence. She was arrested by state police in November 2019 on driving charges after speeding in Windham.
