New French Restaurant Opens In Hoboken At Site Of Former James Beard Winning Eatery

The French restaurant opened this past weekend with a limited menu, replacing a James Beard-winning eatery that closed during the pandemic.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Local foodies mourned in the summer of 2020 when James Beard-winning restaurant Cucharamama in Hoboken closed, its owners saying publicly that it couldn't survive the pandemic. But in its place, a French restaurant has opened, a sister eatery to a popular establishment uptown.

La Boheme opened with a limited menu over the weekend at Clinton and Third streets downtown, run by the same owners as Barbes, a popular Moroccan restaurant uptown on 13th Street.

La Boheme describes itself as "a little piece of the French Riviera."

After noting on the weekend that they had opened with a limited menu for the time being, the owners updated on Wednesday: "A successful first weekend it was. We are open at 4PM this evening. Reservations coming soon. See you at #labohemehoboken."

"Can’t wait to come try," wrote one commenter. "...The anticipation is killing me!"
