New Jersey Cold Snap Turns Hudson River Icy (PHOTO)

HOBOKEN, NJ — Sure. The recent cold snap in Hoboken was enough to burst pipes all over the city, fill the streets with snow and keep city workers busy for days. But did you know that it was also cold enough to freeze the Hudson River?

Following last week’s blizzard, which blanketed much of the Garden State with several inches of snow, several news outlets reported U.S. Coast Guard rescues of vessels beset by ice in the frigid waterway, which spans New Jersey and New York.

On Wednesday, officials with the City of Hoboken shared a breathtaking photo of ice floes on the Hudson River.

Hoboken wasn’t the only place in New Jersey that produced astounding ice and chilly weather photos during the recent cold snap.

In Paterson, the waterfall at Paterson Great Falls National Historic Park began to ice over as temperatures dipped below freezing. (Read full article)
