Latest Long Valley Coronavirus Updates

LONG VALLEY, NJ — The novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, outbreak in New Jersey and across the nation is having vast impacts in Long Valley, including the closure of schools and many businesses.

The number of cases of the illness caused by the virus, known as COVID-19, continue to rise and additional measures and closures continue to be announced. Officials have already declared a state of emergency locally. They also modified the municipal office accessibility.

The Washington Township Police also made the move to put non-emergent police reports online for residents to file. A drive-thru coronavirus testing center was opened at the County College of Morris this week.

The County of Morris Office Of Health Management is also now maintaining a list of COVID-19 positive cases broken down by each town. The Department of Health has also posted data and statistics including hospitalization age groups, county totals and illnesses by onset date.

SCHOOLS
All schools in New Jersey will remain closed through at least April 17 in response to the new coronavirus outbreak, state officials said. The closure did not stop the West Morris Regional School District or the Washington Township School District from donating personal protection equipment.

BUSINESSES
Restaurants, reeling amid the crisis, and Washington Township Mayor Matt Murello has encouraged residents to support local. The Township has also provided a list of places with special hours for high risk shoppers.

HOSPITALS
Many have leapt in to help provide personal protection equipment to local hospitals. This comes amidst reports there might not be enough beds available for patients.

• Murphy said during a live press conference on Wednesday that he's ordering many day care centers to shut amid the coronavirus outbreak.
