WEATHER ALERT: 'Days' Of Snow, Ice Points To Messy New Jersey Sunday, Monday Commute

The National Weather Service has issued a 'Hazardous Weather Outlook," saying snow, sleet and ice could result in hazardous travel.

It may not be a big storm. But it could be long, wet and slick.

Winter Storm Marcus could be the fourth named winter storm to hit New Jersey and Pennsylvania since the beginning of last week, according to The Weather Channel.

The National Weather Service has issued a ‘Hazardous Weather Outlook,” saying snow, sleet and ice is expected in New Jersey on Sunday night, and lasting into Monday night, resulting in hazardous travel.

Northern and central New Jersey will bear the brunt of the “long duration winter weather event,” according to the NWS. storm could continue to soak New Jersey through Tuesday, dumping 3 to 5 inches of snow in the northern parts of the state, The Weather Channel reports.

Much of it will alternate between freezing rain, sleet and snow, according to The National Weather Service. Expect slick traveling on the New Jersey Turnpike, the Garden State Parkway and other roads.

Southern New Jersey and the Jersey Shore are expected to get mostly rain, although some snow is expected Monday.

Accuweather reports that the weather even is part of a train of storms will bring round after round of snow from the Upper Midwest to the Northeast this weekend into early next week.

The storms will bring episodes of snow every 12-24 hours or so from northern Minnesota, upstate New York, northern Pennsylvania, northern New Jersey and New England.

In much of the Northeast, snow continues and may become heavy, at times, in New England, upstate and central New York and northeast Pennsylvania. Any freezing rain will change over to snow during the day, according to The Weather Channel.
