Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Investigating Moonachie Murder-Suicide
Police arrived to the Moonachie home Monday morning and found two deceased bodies.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crime Unit is investigating an apparent murder-suicide in Bergen County.
The Moonachie Police Department arrived at a West First Street residence at 3:07 a.m. Monday to the report of two people shot at the residence, Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said.
Upon arrival, police found the deceased bodies of April Elliatioglu, 33, and Jeff Scarpanito, Jr., 34, on the living room floor. Both had apparent gunshot wounds to the head, Molinelli said.

The scene was secured and detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office‘s Major Crimes Unit were called to the residence, as was the Bergen County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department‘s Bureau of Criminal Identification.
Based on the investigation thus far, it is believed that Scarpanito Jr. shot Ellialtioglu to death and then shot and killed himself. The two were involved in a dating relationship, Molinelli said.

Autopsies to confirm the cause and manner of each of their deaths are pending.
