Habitat for Humanity Bergen County Takes Part in #GivingTuesday Movement

Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County (Habitat Bergen) participated in #GivingTuesday with a day full of activities in which supporters could get involved. The affiliate arranged various fundraisers and volunteer opportunities that took place throughout the day.

Habitat Bergen kicked off #GivingTuesday in its office, accepting a generous $500 donation from FaithWorks Thrift Shop. FaithWorks is operated by the members of Westwood United Methodist Church in Westwood.

Fundraisers included restaurant community nights at Blue Moon Mexican Café and California Pizza Kitchen. In addition to restaurant community nights, Habitat Bergen had volunteers working on multiple projects throughout the day. The affiliate hosted a team of eight volunteers from NARS Cosmetics on its Little Ferry job sites. The team build was part of their parent company, Shiseido’s, Annual Day of Giving. NARS volunteers worked on tasks such as installing vinyl tile and painting doors in two Little Ferry homes. As well as their hands-on support, the company donated $1,000 to the affiliate.

The affiliate also had ten volunteers from Immaculate Heart Academy take part in #GivingTuesday by painting hard hats to be auctioned off in Habitat Bergen’s future silent auctions.

Habitat Bergen is proud to be a founding member of the North Jersey #GivingTuesday Coalition.

“December is a busy time of year for many of us so Habitat Bergen is grateful for all the incredible support we received on #GivingTuesday,” said Jacey Raimondo, Habitat Bergen Executive Director. “The affiliate is thrilled to be a founding member of the North Jersey #GivingTuesday Coalition and is looking forward to making next year even bigger!”
