Hawthorne Farmer's Market Crash Kills One, Injures Two
A truck ran into a barricade at the Hawthorne Farmer's Market this Sunday.

A Hawthorne woman is dead after a pickup truck tore through the southern barricade of the borough’s weekly Farmer’s Market.
Two others were injured in the crash and suffered minor injuries.
The incident occurred at about 2:15 p.m. when the vendors were just finishing up their day.

The truck drove through the barricade and dragged the Hawthorne resident up Grand Avenue before turning left at Legion Place, Police Chief Richard McCauliffe said. The driver finally stopped after making another left on Lafayette Street.
The investigation is being handled by The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

The driver of the maroon pickup truck is yet to be charged, said McCauliffe.
The driver’s identity has not been released. McCaulife said the suspect was evaluated at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson after appearing “visibly upset”.
The family of the woman was at police headquarters Sunday evening.
Blythe Ross, a witness at the scene said the driver did not stop even after hitting several people.
